CPI WELCOME JD(U) MOVE

The Central Secretariat of the Communist Party of India has issued

following statement to the press today:

The Communist Party of India welcomes the decision of the Janata Dal

(U) to break its 17- year old ties with the BJP.  This is an important step

following the elevation of Narendra Modi within the BJP and in the battle

against the divisive communal forces of Hindutva.   It is crystal clear that

it is the RSS fatwas that now dictate every move and micro manages every

step of the BJP. JDU should have taken this decision earlier, in the interest

of secularism.

The CPI member in the Assembly will vote in support of the JD (U) motion

any over-all support for the Nitish Kumar Government whose every action

will be judged on its merits.
